How do I check if my microphone is working?

How to Know if your microphone is connected 

  1. A microphone icon will be displayed in the notification area of the taskbar. 


How to control which applications can use the microphone

  1. Follow the steps below:
  • In Windows 10, go to Start  > Settings  > Privacy  > Microphone.
  • In Windows 11, go to Start  > Settings  > Privacy & security > Microphone. 



STEP-2:     Go to Privacy



STEP-3:     App Permissions click on Microphone



STEP-4:     Enable Microphone 

  1. Choose whether you want to allow apps to access your microphone by turning the setting On or Off.

  2. Scroll down and choose which apps can access your microphone by turning the individual settings for apps On or Off, as shown in the image.




STEP-5:     Allow access for browser



How to check the microphone is working


STEP-1:     Click on the 'Setting' from start menu.



STEP-2:     Click on the system



STEP-3:     Click on the sound



STEP-4:     In Input, select the microphone that you want to test.



STEP-5:     In Input settings, look at Input volume while speaking into the microphone. If the bar moves while you speak, your microphone is working properly.



STEP-6:     If don't see the bar moving, go to Test your microphone and select Start test.
